A Cake Life

When our wedding coordinator suggested Kristin, my fiance got very excited, since she remembered reading about A Cake Life in Midweek. Kristin listened to what my fiance imagined her cake looking like, then proceeded to make it into a reality. That she designed a cake that was even more beautiful than what my now-wife imagined is a testament to her vision. That the taste was superb is proof of her talent. We are hoping to order more cakes from her, just to share with people who couldn't attend our wedding.

We had a destination wedding and didn't stress one bit about our cake. A Cake Life made everything very simple! Plus, WE LOVED THE CAKE!!Kristin and her assistant did a phenomenal job on all of the details: from creating an aesthetically appealing cake, an extremely satisfying cake, to delivering and setting the cake up; everybody was very impressed! The coconut cupcakes were fantastic and the guava cake with strawberry cream filling was absolutely amazing! Additionally, we had a mishap on our end. Kristin and her assistant waited for someone to meet her at the reception site for 40 minutes. That dedication is unbelievable. They didn't complain that we were late, they just made sure we were happy with everything!...and we were!I recommend A Cake Life to anyone!

I contacted A Cake Life to make a surprised grooms cake for my now husband. My husband loves to golf. I got him a golf themed cake where he was laying on the ground, blowing his ball into the hole. I met with Kristen and she was so nice and willing to go with my budget. When I actually saw the cake I was amazed at the details she got onto the cake. From the eyes to the hat that my husband always wear. I would totally recommend Kristen and A Cake Life. =)

Kristin was amazing to work with. We got cupcakes with a cake topper - red velvet and yellow cake/strawberry cream filling. Our guests were raving about the cakes, especially that strawberry cream filling. You can tell they use the best ingredients and the cake was so moist. It was even better than I remembered from our tasting.Kristin was also extremely professional and very on top of her communication. She was super responsive, even followed-up with me at times I owed her information. The delivery/display was all done without a hitch. I highly recommend them!

I had a great experience working with Kristin. When we began the design process we didn't have a clear vision of what we wanted. Kristin and I emailed back and forth with ideas and finally arrived at a design that was simple but still very chic. Not only was our fabulous cake a show-stopper, the yellow butter cake with coconut filling and rolled fondant creation was delish. Thank you Kristin!

Little girls all over the world dream about their fairy tale wedding or princess gown, and these dreams sometime stretch into adulthood. I was not one of them. However, the one element I hoped for was the perfect wedding cake, “a piece of art.” When we met with Kristin for the first time I came armed with many different photos incorporating many different design details. Then I shared my story. Kristin seemed touched by this and was ready to make this dream come true. The story didn’t stop there. The groom has a love for shoes. On a recent trip to New York we were on the hunt for a specific pair, but were out of luck. I thought it would be fun to have a groom’s cake replica of the shoe he desired. After many photos and conversations the grooms cake was realized (in a true size 10), and it was remarkable. Every little detail down to the shoelaces and stitching on the leather trim was included.Both cakes were definite showpieces and the talk of all our guests. The actual wedding cake was beautiful and it couldn’t have been easy. After tasting the butter cream (delicious) I knew I wanted it versus fondant. I was worried that it wouldn’t look as clean and smooth, but it was not an issue. It exceeded my expectations.The groom’s cake was a hit and looked too real to eat (… but we did of course).Our vision was executed to perfection.Kristin and her team are amazing. She listens, communicates, and delivers.She is a true talent and we will recommend A Cake Life over and over again.

Kristin is wonderful to work with! I was indecisive about what I wanted my cupcake cake to look like but Kristin was so patient and helpful. I corresponded with her entirely over e-mail and she was prompt and very thorough in all of her communications. The cupcake tower looked so good! I couldn’t believe it! I knew it would look good from the pictures on their website but it was more than I expected when I saw it in person. It was perfect!If there is any reason for me to order a cake next time I’m in Hawaii – it’ll definitely be through A Cake Life!P.S. The guava filling in my cupcakes was to die for!

The lilikoi wedding cake was delicious and we got many compliments on it! The flowers on top of the cakes were perfect and it looked fantastic with the cake plates that I provided. Kristin was so patient with all my anal-retentive e-mail correspondence and worked with a few inspiration images that I sent her. Rather than have a single large cake, we agreed on a more challenging motif of 6 variously-sized cakes (with one of them being a two-tier) with slightly different colors and surface textures. The only thing I would have changed is that the tonal/color variation of the cakes wasn't quite as subtle as the inspiration image I sent, but the frosting textures was so beautiful I barely noticed on my wedding day. If you are particular about your wedding design, you may have to be creative or hire additional help as Kristin wasn't able to provide loaner cake stands/plates or recommend a local resource. I wanted a particular vintage look with variously-sized cake stands at different heights and had to provide/make my own stands. These were such minute details, though, and I was overjoyed by the cakes Kristin prepared - I would highly recommend her!

Kristin at A Cake Life is just great! Right from the start she was helpful, creative, timely with her emails, very accommodating of my ideas and so friendly. The cupcake tower looked fantastic and tasted divine! All my guests thought it was so fantastic!I came from Australia for my Hawaiian wedding and I am so glad I used A Cake Life - I felt confident at all times that Kristin would deliver everything we discussed over email, I didn't have to worry at all about anything!!!

We had such a wonderful experience with Kristin from A Cake Life. Our cake was the showpiece of our wedding and she was super accommodating. Her talent was AMAZING and her interpretation of what we wanted was totally on point. I will absolutely recommend A Cake Life to my friends and family.

Kristin from A Cake Life made everything so easy for me from the very beginning. She is very quick with her replies- whether it was by phone, text or e-mail (and facebook & twitter lol), and she was flexible with my busy schedule. She is open to any creative ideas, and she will give very helpful suggestions to make your cake even more special. She made our wedding cake so beautifully, and for someone like me who's very indecisive, it was a dream come true to have her make my cake. She has great sense of style when it comes to cake designing, and she kept my cake simple & elegant- just like I requested, but yet very memorable. Everyone loved the cake and complimented on it. The cake not only looked great, it even tasted great! I really didn't mind if my husband put it all over my face during the cake cutting cuz it tasted so good lol. Needless to say, it was a tough decision when she brought us samples of her cake. The cakes & the cream all tasted amazing! She is very professional & friendly, and was never late to any meetings. On the day of the wedding, she delivered the cake on time and even came to personally congratulate me. I can not imagine any other sweet person who fits the description of a cake maker for a joyous occasion than Kristin!

My wedding cake & cupcakes were done by A Cake Life, and they were perfect! I had planned my Hawaiian Wedding from Seattle, so all of my correspondence with the local vendors was via phone and email. Kristin from A Cake Life, was absolutely wonderful to work with. She initiated phonecalls and emails to help gather ideas and to provide me with her own creative suggestions. She was prompt, professional, warm and friendly throughout the several months we communicated. I opted to go with a simple, yet elegant top cake and cupcakes decorated with orchids. It was a beautiful cake and cupcake display, and it tasted delicious. The ordering and contract process was simple, and Kristin was able to combine our ideas and created exactly what I had pictured for my wedding, all without us meeting in person. If and when I am ever celebrating again in Hawaii I will definitely work with Kristin again.

I was given cart blanche by my son & his fiancee to create their cupcake wedding cake. After researching many wedding cake vendors, I decided on Kristin. I can't say enough about her, since I had to do this from San Diego. She responded quickly to my emails (very important to me!), always answering all of my questions & making some great suggestions. She was very flexable when I made changes a few times. Having brought ideas together from both of us, she created a cake that was more than I envisioned. It was absolutely beautiful, & at the same time different & unique. The sugar flowers were unbelieveable!Of course, not being able to meet personally with Kristin to view or taste her cakes was a concern to me, plus hoping that my vision was going to be the same as hers, was definitely put aside when I saw my son & new daughter-in-laws cake. Kristin was a great & I highly recommend her! Thank you Kristin!

I ordered my wedding cake from Kristin at A Cake Life. She was very easy to work with, had very responsive communication and was flexible with the design of our cake. She delivered the cake on time and sent me a message to let me know it was done. The cake she made was absolutely beautiful with fresh tropical flowers. I only had one bite -- and it was delicious! I heard great reviews from our guests on the other flavors too. To top it off, the price was very reasonable. I am very happy with the service and quality at A Cake Life.

FREAKING DELICIOUS!!!!!!!Ok, so i went to High School with Kristin, so i was very happy when i found out she was doing wedding cakes. We easily chatted over facebook and through email and she has been so professional and kind throughout the whole process.My husband and i could not stop eating her samples. HER BUTTERCREAM FROSTING IS TO DIE FOR!!!!!!Since my husband is a coconut addict - we went with yellow cake with coconut cream filling for our top tier and our cupcakes were devil's food cake with cookies and cream filling along with the yellow cake/coconut cream. DELICIOUS I TELL YOU!!!!!! so moist and yum yum yummy.Our cake was simple and i supplied the ribbon, brooch and cake topper, but Kristin did an amazing job on the set up. I seriously want to keep coming back to her for more of her delicious cakes! thank goodness for birthdays!!! :)

Kristin did a great job on our cake, we got so many compliments! She really listened to our ideas and worked with us to come up with a vision. When I needed to change the number of cupcakes and the flavors she was flexible and quick to update my invoice. Her prices were comparable to other vendors and her cake was delicious!

Kristin was great! So easy to work with and flexible with our changes. The presentation of the cake topper and cupcake tree was beautiful . . . and the flavors were amazing! We will definitely be using A Cake Life again in the future.

Kristin did an outstanding job on our wedding cake, it was what I envision my cake to be. We went with a three tier cake and it was a hard decision on what we would pick for our cake favor. However, Kristin was able to accommodate three different favors, I would highly recommend the gauva, fresh strawberry with cream, and last but not least her dobash cake. Our families also really enjoyed it. Even thou you are suppose to keep the top tier and freeze it, my husband and I couldn't resist but eat half and freeze the other. It was that good. I highly recommend "A Cake Life" to anyone looking to get married or for any other special occasion, it's worth it. Thanks again Kristin for making my dream wedding cake.

Kristin Kato did such a great job on my wedding cake. It is one of the fondest memories I have of my wedding. Cake Consultation: We had a fish theme wedding and we are fish nerds. We asked Kristin to put specific fish on the wedding cake and we wanted a colorful design. Kristin came to our cake consultation very prepared with examples of fish/ocean wedding cakes she had done in the past. Though she came with examples, she was very open to what we wanted on the cake. Within a few days, she sent us a sketch of the cake and it was adorable. She is very good at drawing and based on her sketches, we had to have her make our cake. During our consultation, we tried the guava cream, the lilikoi and the chocolate cream cakes. They were all delicious. Her cakes are very fluffy and not heavy, which was great. Communication between each other via email: As I was planning a destination wedding from California, email was the easiest way for me to correspond. Some of the vendors in Hawaii can take forever to respond. Kristin was the opposite (which was VERY much appreciated). She always answers emails within 1-2 days. Ease of completing a wedding cake contract: This process was very easy with Kristin. Our guest count increased within a month of our wedding and Kristin was able to update our contract within days and send us a revised invoice very quickly.Cake delivery/set-up and quality of the product: Kristin set up the cake on time. The cake had an adorable "sand (sugar)" bottom. When I saw the cake with the specific fish we asked for, I almost cried! We changed our fish theme and she was able to incorporate the fish on our invitations as the cake topper. Everyone absolutely loved our cake and took a million pictures of it. It was really hard for me to cut such a beautiful cake!! The cake also tasted delicious. We had the butter cake with guava creme, coconut cake with pineapple creme, and chocolate cake with lilikoi creme. It was great she could give us a different combo for each layer. Each layer was delicious! Our guests all loved it too.Thank you Kristin for doing such a great job!
